History of the Symposium

The aims of the symposia are to provide a forum for biologists and environmentalists, an platform to discuss the current status of biodiversity in EuroAsia, an inclusive colloquium to forward strategies and policies to conserve the rich biodiversity heritage of the area.

The our first symposium was held in Baku, Azerbaijan in 2015. It was the first event in Azerbaijan, and explored strategic issues in biodiversity and its conservation. Eighty international guests and 170 Azerbaijani nationals participated and their discussions are recorded in the published SEAB2015 Abstract book. SEAB2015 had 147 submissions, from which 31 oral presentations, 113 posters and 3 invited speakers were selected. In the end, we had 250 attendees from over 12 different countries.

The second symposium was in Antalya, Türkiye in 2016. One hundred ten international guests and 350 Turkish nationals participated and their discussions are recorded in the published SEAB2016 Abstract book. SEAB2016 had 675 submissions, from which 215 oral presentations, 453 posters, 7 invited speakers (from Canada, India, United States, Ukraine, Germany, Türkiye) and 3 exhibitions about Biodiversity were performed. In the end, we had 400 attendees from over 16 different countries.

The third symposium will be held in Minsk, Belarus in 2017. It is expected that we will have colleagues from related countries for this symposium and there will be more than 600 scientific presentations. SEAB-2017 will provide a scientific platform for scientists around the EuroAsia to exchange knowledge, discuss issues, share innovations, and network.
